MLA is the single most comprehensive database for language and literature research. When you search here you are searching the content of over 4,000 journals. Unlike JSTOR, however, not all articles found here are available full-text online. Many are available in other databases, though, and using the FindText feature (an icon and link on every record, looks like ) will help you track them down.

Here you can search authors by type. Click "Person Search", and in the ethnicity box, select Native American. Or, you can simply search by name. What you will find are biographies of writers from trusted reference sources like the Dictionary of Literary Biography and Contemporary Authors as well as links to literary criticism and additional resources.

America: History and Life is a complete bibliographic reference to the history of the United States and Canada from prehistory to the present. Over 1,700 journals published throughout the world are covered in the database. In addition to articles, each year America: History and Life includes approximately 6,000 citations of book and media reviews from a selection of over one hundred key journals in US and Canadian history and related fields.

This full-text database contains 79 language and literature journals including "American Literature" (1929-1999), "Journal of American Folklore" (1888-2001) and "Twentieth Century Literature" (1955-2003).

Google Scholar identifies free scholarly literature & extracts citation lists. (Citation lists do not link to additional info.) Scholar provides info about articles/reports/books stored on servers of scholarly publishers. Rarely, Google is allowed to display full text, but usually has only a description. EMU may have already paid for & can provide access to material found in Scholar. If we have not, the library's Interlibrary Loan Service can probably acquire the full text, free.
