Children's & Young Adult Literature

Resources for children's literature and young adult literature research, and tips for using the children's literature collection.

Search for Books in the Library Catalog

Books of literary analysis/criticism typically focus on a theme or on the works of a particular author, so one chapter or section might be very relevant to what you are writing about, and the others may not. One chapter in an academic book is often approximately the same length as an academic article.

You can search for books related to a certain subject, or about a specific author.

For example, to see what books EMU owns related to issues of gender in children's literature, you can search for the words gender and children's literature.

You can also try searching for your author's name and the word criticism.  For example:
   Alcott criticism

If you're studying a prolific or popular author, try a Keyword search and add words from the title of the specific work. For example:
   Alcott criticism Little Women
