Our Ask a Librarian service offers quick help through online chat; 24/7 service is made possible by our participation in a nationwide cooperative of college and university libraries. EMU library users can connect to a librarian through the Ask a Librarian chat window, located on the main page of the library website, our online research guides, and other web pages. EMU librarians provide chat research assistance about 20 hours a week.

This splendid collection of primary texts, encyclopedias, articles and original essays was awarded to Eastern Michigan University Library as part of a Bridging Cultures Bookshelf: Muslim Journeys grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the American Library Association (ALA). This database has something for every knowledge level and almost every subject.

Zotero, a Citation Management Tool

These days, much discovery work in research is done using digital search tools, such as the EMU Library’s Esearch database, Google’s Scholar, full-text collections such as JSTOR, or disciplinary databases such as PsycINFO. With a single-click of an icon in the browser’s address bar, Zotero, a citation management tool, will import bibliographic information for each item, thereby creating your personalized Zotero knowledgebase.

New Digitized Collections from the
University Archives in Digital Commons@ EMU

Did you know that the University Archives now has material available on the web?
During the 2012-13 academic year, the University Archives has been scanning and running documents through an optical character recognition (OCR) program, allowing the documents to be full-text searchable. These documents were then loaded into the Digital Commons @ EMU database, our institutional repository. The materials for this project were selected based on the frequency of patron requests received by the Archives.
