The University Library and ProQuest:
On the Cutting Edge as Beta Partners

There is a change in store for the EMU library, and it's good news for all the library users out there!  The main software that runs the library's circulation, cataloging, and material acquisitions systems, is moving in the direction of a cloud-based Sfotware as a Service (SaaS) model over the next few years.

Predatory Publishers

Predatory Publishers

Scholars, be alert! During the past year, articles have been printed in Nature, Science and The Wall Street Journal about publishers who exploit the "publish or perish" culture on many university campuses by offering easy publishing opportunities.  These publishers charge high fees for inclusion in their online journals which are usually of poor quality and have little or no peer review. Their high acceptance rate and quick publishing cycle appeals to academic scholars who need to include published research on their curriculum vita for tenure or promotion.
