Finding Books on the Shelves
Browsing the shelves for books
The letters at the front of an item's call number correspond to Library of Congress subjects. If you want to browse the collection for language books, here are some helpful call number areas (see Finding books on the shelves for additional information on locating call numbers in the library):
- PC2001 - PC3761 (French)
- PC4001 - PC4977 (Spanish)
- PE1001 - PE1693 (Modern English)
- PE1128 - PE1130.5 (Modern English -- Language -- Grammar -- Readers -- Textbooks: Grammars. Readers, etc. for foreign students)
- PF3001 - PF5999 (German)
- PJ4501 - PJ5192 (Hebrew)
- PL501 - PL889 (Japanese language and literature)
- PL901 - PL 998 (Korean language and literature)
- PQ1 - PQ3999 (French literature)
- PQ6001 - PQ8929 (Spanish literature)

Requesting Items from Storage
InterLibrary Loan - Articles

For articles not available online or in the library, use an online form to request it via ILLiad - more info.
Articles are usually delivered online in 3-5 days.
InterLibrary Loan - Books
MeLCat is the fastest way to borrow a book via interlibrary loan. If you can't find the book in MeLCat, try ILLiad.

ILLiadCurrent EMU students and faculty can use this online form to ask the library to borrow a book from another library. Please check MeLCat first, as MeLCat books arrive more quickly. To request a book, look for the Book link under New Request. The library doesn't borrow textbooks from other libraries through ILLiad.
Tip: If you just need a specific chapter, use the Book Chapter form.
