Finding Books on the Shelves

Browsing the shelves for books

The letters at the front of an item's call number correspond to Library of Congress subjects. If you want to browse the collection for language books, here are some helpful call number areas (see Finding books on the shelves for additional information on locating call numbers in the library):

  • PC2001 - PC3761 (French)
  • PC4001 - PC4977 (Spanish)
  • PE1001 - PE1693 (Modern English)
  • PE1128 - PE1130.5 (Modern English -- Language -- Grammar -- Readers -- Textbooks: Grammars. Readers, etc. for foreign students)
  • PF3001 - PF5999 (German)
  • PJ4501 - PJ5192 (Hebrew)
  • PL501 - PL889 (Japanese language and literature)
  • PL901 - PL 998 (Korean language and literature)
  • PQ1 - PQ3999 (French literature)
  • PQ6001 - PQ8929 (Spanish literature)
  • PT1 - PT4897 (German literature)
