CRAAP Test for Evaluating Websites

Authority: The source of the information

  • Who is the author/publisher/source/sponsor?
  • What information can you find on the author/publisher/source/sponsor from trustworthy sources?

    • What are  the author's credentials or organizational affiliations?

    • What are the author's qualifications to write on the topic?

  • Be wary about judging a source by its URL domain (e.g., .com, .org., etc.).  While many think that sites ending in a .org are more credible than those ending in .com, in actuality they are not--anybody can purchase a .org domain.
