Paths to Acquiring Articles

There are 3 paths you might take to get your eyes on the contents of an article

1. Article is available immediately online in a digital format
2. Article is available in a physical format (print or microfilm) in the library building
3. Article is not immediately available in either digital or physical format
Request a copy of the article (no charge) via EMU Interlibrary Loan service

Article Online - Link from database result list

On the PsycINFO result list, you would like to see an article located in:

Developmental Psychology Vol. 9, Iss. 1,  (Jul 1973): 44-54

Click the link saying     Full text - PDF

 

Article Online - Link using FindText+ button

On the PsycINFO result list, you would like to see an article located in:

Child Development Vol. 76, Iss. 2,  (Mar 2005 - Apr 2005): 483-501

Click the FindText+ button

 

 

The 2005 article is online from two different vendors--JSTOR and Wiley.  Click on either to connect to the publisher's page

 

 

 

Article in Library Building (Print or Microformat)

On the PsycINFO result list, you would like to see an article located in:

Journal of School Psychology Vol. 15, Iss. 1,  (Apr 1977 - Jun 1977): 60-67

Click the FindText+ button

 

 

The article you want was published in 1977 in volume 15, issue 1 of Journal of School Psychology. The screen below shows the issue could be in one (or more) of 3 library locations: 
1. Magazines and Journals - 2nd level
2. Microfiche - 2nd level west
3. ARC Storage

 

 

It turns out the Volume 15 of the Journal of School Psychology is located in ARC Storage. To request that the journal volume be brought to the Circulation Desk, click the Sign-in link and login with your EMU NetID

Article Not Immediately Available - Use Interlibrary Loan Service

On the PsycINFO result list, you would like to see an article located in:

Journal of Social Behavior & Personality Vol. 6, Iss. 2,  (Jun 1991): 219-228

Since there is no online or in-library access to the issue of the journal you want you will see a screen similar to:

 

 

Login to the EMU Interlibrary Loan service (Illiad) with your EMU NetID. The request form will often be mostly filled out. However, you will often need to add the closing page number that the article is on
