Audiobooks from Gutenberg

Nearly 200 audiobooks from Gutenberg.org are now available in the EMU library catalog and free to download. This guide will tell you how to find them and also give other libraries the opportunity to add them to their own collections.

Overview of the Project

Gutenberg.org has thousands of eAudio titles in both human-read and computer-read formats.  At Eastern Michigan University, the library selected nearly two hundred eAudio books that would mesh well with our collection and be useful to the student body. The current collection is limited to human-read audiobooks in English since these will get better usage from our patrons. The bibliographic records for the current collection are available here for other libraries to download and use in their own local catalogs.

Please use these records in any way you wish and – hopefully – import the records into your library for your patrons to use.

MARC Files

Here are the MARC records in .mrc format.  You should be able to edit them in MarcEdit if you would like to make any changes for your local instance.

Adding to the Collection

If you wish to add to the collection, you may use the following guide to replicate the records EMU created from Gutenberg.org’s RDF data or from the original CLiC collection.  Send your MARC files to mbarnes1@emich.edu and they will be added to this site as supplementary collections.

Please email if you have any questions!
