Why We Need Arab American Heritage Month

Why We Need Arab American Heritage Month

National Arab American Heritage Month (NAAHM) honors the history, culture, and contributions of Arab Americans, whose roots span 22 countries across the Middle East and North Africa.

While local celebrations began in the 1990s, national recognition grew in recent years. In 2019, Representatives Debbie Dingell (for Michigan) and Rashida Tlaib introduced a congressional resolution supporting NAAHM. The U.S. State Department officially recognized the month in April 2021.
