Library Proxy Bookmarklet

The Library Proxy Bookmarklet is a shortcut to get EMU library subscription access from article web pages. Install it in your web browser and use it when you have not started your search through Esearch or library databases.

How to Install

To install the bookmarklet, drag the Reload via EMU Library button below to your browser toolbar. See troubleshooting installation for help with Firefox and other browsers.

How to Use

• When viewing an article web page from a publisher (for example, ScienceDirect, Taylor & Francis, or Cambridge), click the Reload via EMU Library button in your browser toolbar.
• The page will reload and you will be asked to login with your EMU NetID and password.
• If the EMU Library subscribes, you will be able to see the full text.

When to Use

• Use when you are searching from off-campus, and doing general web searches or using other non-library links.
• Do not use when searching Esearch or through other library databases.

If Access is Unavailable

If the full text of an article is not available when you use the bookmarklet:

• Try searching for the article in Esearch as it may be available through another library source.
• Use Interlibrary Loan to request an article from another library.
• More help with finding full text articles.

The bookmarklet is installed on the Chrome browser toolbar: click on Reload via EMU Library to login via EMU.

After login, the full article is available if the EMU library has a subscription:

If dragging the bookmarklet to your browser toolbar doesn't work:

Firefox

Method 1:

• Right mouse click on the Reload via EMU Library link on the button above.
• Select "Bookmark link".
• Select Location "Bookmarks Toolbar".
• Click "Save".

Method 2:

• Right mouse click on the Reload via EMU Library link on the button above
• Select "Copy link."
• Place your cursor in your browser's toolbar.
• Right mouse click and select "Add Bookmark"
• Paste the link in the URL field. Type Reload via EMU Library in the Name field.

Chrome - Windows

• Right mouse click on the Reload via EMU Library link on the button above and select "Copy link."
• Go to Bookmarks > Bookmark Manager > Add bookmark
• Paste the link in the URL field. Type Reload via EMU Library in the Name field.

Chrome - Mac

It is not possible to install the Library Proxy Bookmarket in Chrome on some Mac operating systems (e.g., Mojave and High Sierra). If you must use Chrome on a Mac you will need to install an EZproxy browser extension. Try a web search for "EZproxy extension." If you are prompted to define the proxy domain, use https://ezproxy.emich.edu
