Many publicly funded research projects are required to share their data products. Top science journals have data sharing requirements as well.

Finding Data

Some data repositories are listed on this page. Many other resources exist, those listed here have been selected because they are either the most comprehensive or commonly used. If you would like to recommend a data repository or your would like assistance acquiring data, please contact the STEM Librarian, Kelly Getz at kgrossm3@emich.edu. 

Datasets can often be located by searching for research articles, then locating the corresponding data in repositories, supplementary materials, or by contacting the author. In addition to research articles, "data papers" are scholarly, peer-reviewed papers written specifically about datasets.
