Zotero

Zotero is a tool to help you organize your sources and format your in-text and end-of-text references (bibliography).

Follow tabs on the Zotero guide to get started: https://guides.emich.edu/zotero

*Tip: We recommend using a traditional laptop or desktop rather than a Chromebook or tablet for this.

Adding Citation Styles in Zotero

Check with your professor for their preferred citation style. To add a style to the list of preferred citation styles in Zotero:

  1. From the Zotero app, click "Edit" --> "Preferences". (This is located in a slightly different place on a Mac).
  2. From the top ribbon of the Preferences box, click "Cite".
  3. If you do not see your preferred citation style or journal style listed in the "Style Manager", click "Get additional styles..."
  4. Search for the style and select it.
  5. Under "Citation Options", check the box that says "Include URLs of paper articles in references"
  6. Click "OK" to close the Preferences Box.
