EMU Library - Keeping You Up-to-Date

Welcome Faculty & Lecturers!

Welcome to the first issue of FacultyConnections@EMU Library!  We at the library know how much you depend on reliable services and authoritative resources in your teaching, and we believe the best way to keep faculty and lecturers abreast of the changes at the library is to provide you with a newsletter that is delivered right to your email box.

We hope you find the short updates to be relevant to your teaching and applicable to student success.

We would love to hear your thoughts.  Use the Comments links in any of the boxes.

Library QR Codes Make Research Easier!

As research moves from desktops, to laptops, to ever more mobile tools, library services are keeping pace. Imagine being in the library, pointing your internet-connected mobile device equipped with a camera and an app at a two-dimensional image, and then being linked to research-relevant text, audio, or video content.  Research can be that easy, and QR codes in the library are setting the pace!

EMU Library's Mobile Presence

The library’s web presence is shrinking!  Well, probably not in the way that you’re thinking.  The EMU Library recently released a beta version of the EMU Library Mobile Site.  This site brings essential library resources, services, and information to users’ mobile devices, such as iPods, tablets, and smartphones.  It is provided as a free service from the EMU Library in cooperation with other departments.

ArchiveGrid

During the 2011-12 academic year, the University Archives worked to provide increased access to research collections through the inclusion of materials in the online library catalog, online finding aids, and through participation on the beta version of ArchiveGrid.  ArchiveGrid allows researchers from around the world to connect with finding aids, and in some cases, primary source materials, held in archives and special collections.
