Evaluate Quality

Before adopting an OER, take a moment to assess fit, quality, and accessibility.

Check alignment with your learning outcomes and course level; content accuracy and currency; inclusive representation; organization and clarity; available ancillaries (slides, test banks); accessible formats (headings, alt text, captions); and a clear open license that permits your intended use.

For a consistent review process, consider using a rubric such as the Open Textbook Library Review Criteria or the Achieve OER Rubrics.
