Transformative agreements are contracts between libraries and publishers designed to shift the publishing model—from paying to read articles behind paywalls to paying to publish them open access.
Through these agreements, EMU-affiliated authors can publish open access in eligible journals without paying article processing charges (APCs).
Why These Agreements Matter
Free Open Access Publishing: EMU authors can publish open access at no cost in participating journals
Increased Visibility: Open access articles are available to a global readership, reaching more scholars and practitioners
Funder Compliance: Supports open access requirements from some research funders
Cost Savings: Eliminates or reduces expensive APCs, saving authors and departments significant research funds
