Publishing Agreements

This guide helps EMU authors understand and use transformative publishing agreements that allow them to publish open access in eligible journals at no cost.

American Chemical Society Agreement

EMU Library has a read-and-publish agreement with the American Chemical Society (ACS) in effect through 2026. This agreement allows EMU corresponding authors to publish open access in most ACS hybrid and gold open access journals without paying article processing charges (APCs).

Key Points

  • The corresponding author must be affiliated with Eastern Michigan University to qualify for an APC waiver.
  • During the ACS publishing agreement process, authors must select Eastern Michigan University from the drop-down affiliation list. Typed-in affiliations will not be recognized.
  • Articles published under this agreement will automatically be assigned a Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 license .
